So while floating on Nitrogen this afternoon I was thinking we should organize a BASF boycott, and then I saw Spyguy had suggested the same thing in another thread. I think this is something we could do. Not a 100% boycott as I understand there are some chemicals you have to use and this should be for our benefit not something that causes us grief. And it doesn’t have to be forever just for a year.
We start a movement where none of us buys canola seed or name brand liberty next year. To make sure they feel it, we further commit that post 2023 we will not buy BASF seed that is a blend, as a condition to our retailers of seed purchase. So after the boycott is over in 2024 any seed we buy will have to have a 2023 seed tag that is not a blend. Stick them with all the 2022 seed production. This is a good time to get the ball rolling well in front of fall seed sales.
It doesn’t need to be an angry boycott with us screaming at reps etc. Just a bunch of cheerful farmers not buying BASF canola seed or Liberty for the 2023 calendar year.
Boycott BASF! I like how it sounds. Hats, bumper stickers etc. let’s make it a movement.
