Crops in our area are as good as they have ever been, but starting to drown now. If rain gives us a reprieve, we will be fine. Lots of dugouts got a much needed recharge these last few weeks.

Fencing is slow between rains. And so is spraying. But I will take this over what looked like another drought not even a month ago.
I may have kept a few too many bushels for Macdon's targets. Still probably in play, but likely not before new crop comes in now.

    Bison fencing I presume?

    How is that endeavor going?

Yes bison fencing. Pretty well committed at this point. Bought handling facilities, panels, and fencing for a half section. First 35 head should be here in the next week as long as the weather gives us a chance to get the wire up on the first section of pasture. (Turning older hay land and creek bottom into pasture)

Animals are fairly cheap now, but fencing making up for those savings😜

What kind of fencing are you doing? Always interesting to see how others do it.

We are putting up 8’ game fence on the perimeter with 12’ 3.25” OD steel posts sunk in 4’. On the corners and gates, we are sinking the posts 6’ in the ground and welding a 2’ stub on the top. Using horizontal braces between corner post and a post 6’ away. Tying the wire to the post with 14 gauge galvanized wire folded in two and then twisted together to make one wire. Then wrap around post and wire and shove the ends in a drill chuck and tighten with the drill.

Interior cross fence will be 5’ bison wire(page wire basically). Haven’t got to the interior fencing yet.

Interestingly enough, at the time, steel posts were cheaper than wood posts.

I will try snap a few pics next time I am out there…has to dry up a bit!

That is what first drew us in to getting them. I haul hay to one guy that has them, and he has been bugging me to get into them for a few years. Then we bought a butcher animal off of him and that was that. The taste when cooked properly is unbelievable. The animals being down in price this past year has helped us get in as well.

Looking to set up a farm direct marketing gig, or storefront, or both. Possibly get into stores and restaurants like sheepwheat is doing with his sheep as well.

When I go to the Grainery in Stoon Its my go to favorite.

Takes good orginization and real work to make it go.

Very few can actually make it successful.

                          Great product!
