Who honestly thought these prices would hold forever? Just because they have finally been fair? Talking with a neighbor, if canola retraces to 15 bucks and wheat under ten, (and it will), the world is going to turn upside down for a lot of guys. In theory.
But I’m probably wrong. Went through the wet decade from hell, and while it pretty much killed my farm and me, it didn’t seem to faze most in these parts. No crop? No problem!

We used a good portion of our profits last yr on inputs for this yr. Just wasnt able to lock in all we needed last fall.
Lentil market is going to get destroyed first. Looks like guys have way over supplied this market and our buyers arent too hungry right now. Cant even book in new crop and there has to be some in the SW coming off by August 1st.

You all wondering why grain prices are dropping.
Geesh
Not trying to be ass or anything but we all know what wheat, canola and peas look like.

Out harvesting the crop that grows spectacularly regardless of the weather here.
A few of the “Daddy†rocks as the kids call them…….
Three generations out today. Usually it’s only two tops. Lots of fun considering the chore. Got 40 acres covered. Only another 160 to go hopefully this week.
Using the gators as a tractor will rut it up bad.
The “new†to us sprayer is leaving plenty of ruts as is even with floaters on. Our Spray Coupe grenaded it’s timing gears again so we went shopping and found a Deere not far from home. Quite a learning curve but my brother is great at figuring this stuff out. The scissor links on the suspension and boom shocks are pooched and that sounds like a common failure.
A three weeks ago things were getting very dry and desperate but now we could use some heat and sun. How quick things can change. Calling for a possible inch tomorrow after an inch on Saturday. Not complaining though. The cows and grass sure are loving it. ðŸ€
Even the beer clouds lived up to their name after they rolled through this afternoon putting a stop on rock harvesting and spraying. Life is greatðŸ»
