Well for us for a change it wasn't a big rain week 1/4 inch. Total is getting close to 10 in for the year and north a foot or more. North fields have yellow spots.
Boris quit last night, wouldn't it be nice if Skippy quit and took the whole ****ing liberal cabinet with him. That won't happen because in his mind he thinks he is Mr wonderful and things are going great.
In Europe Farmers are pissed at new rules and are actually fighting back, funny other groups are supporting them, they say enough is enough. Maybe it is time for a Great reset but it's for Politicians. Skippy went after oil and gas and he will be coming after us farmers with stupid ideas right up to the point Canadians are eating Bugs for Protein and fake meat etc. They want us all gone and replaced by open fields of giant Carbon sinks. Think I'm not thinking right well just let's do the Canadian thing of sitting back watching and doing nothing till it's too late. Farmers in Europe have it figured out will Canadian Farmers.
Sunny Ways **** You, Trudeau.
Ah, now I feel better.
Friday Crop Report.
HRS is growing by leaps and bounds but like most of this report will point out we need heat and we need to push this crop. One warm day followed by two cold or mist doesn't cut it. Wheat is in Boot and starting to head. Lush for now but did the roots go down at all. 9/10 rating it's looking good. Fungicides will start next week.
Barley the early is starting to head to fully on a few fields the latter is filling in nicely and coming strong. 9/10 with a few putting on Fungicides now.
Oats is also growing like a weed and filling in even the late green feed is looking good.
Flax again the prov total might be down for acres but our area is way way way up. I think stats can is wrong on the flax numbers. Flax took acres away from Canola in some areas. 7/10
Peas are grabbing each other and starting to flower. Peas don't like water but are doing good for now. You can spot fields that shouldn't have been seeded because they were peas a few years ago. 8-year rule works.
8/10, fungicide spraying is starting now.
Lentils are thick but with all the rain disease will be a problem. You can see in the sprayer ruts now. issues starting. Lentils and lots of rain aren't a good match. 7/10
Canola has had a great week the bugs finally couldn't beat up the plants anymore and now it's just the gophers in places that are having a hay day. Canola seeded in June has caught up to the may almost. Cabbage stage and bolting to full flower on early seeded fields now. Early had lots and lots and lots of flea issues. The best catch ever on the later seeded almost too good of a catch. Disease spraying will happen by some and it might be a year to actually see a benefit. right now 9/10 for our area.
Hay operations are starting and boy is it going to be a big year for that. The pastures are real nice and the cows are having a wonderful summer. Fresh water and lush grass.
Basically, it's way different in our area from last but last was good till the rains quit in July and the oven went to broil. We ended up with an average that was better than most and I do consider us very lucky last year. This year hopefully isn't like the last time we had a monster coming it froze on August 4 th or 5th. Yea that sucked real bad.
This year is different since most nights are in the high 50s and day time is high 60s to 70s. Rain is nice but you still need heat.
It's the year of the catch-up for crops all the way to the finish line. This crop has to be pushed and pushed hard by mother nature or it will be the most expensive crop ever grown that we got paid peanuts for.
Oh, the shit show happening in Canola futures markets. Yea **** right off we're a long way from the bin and if it freezes they will say oh it was just a small area no real problem like last time. Farmers never win they work overtime to buy it as cheap as possible.
Hearing rumblings that Glypos should come down but they feel they can get good money out of stupid farmers up till November. Want to bet the fert industry feels the same. They will **** us until we quit buying from them.
Have a great day I'm done spraying and it's off to change tires and get back at it with Fungicides tomorrow.
