Rumour that canola flowers are prematurely aborting , no apparent cause. Anyone else heard anything?

You’d think with all the bans on abortion these days, they’d have a law for canola as well….

Big chunk of canola aborted here. But think the golf ball+ sized hail had something to do with that….

I’ve heard of up to 95% aborting just south of here but haven’t seen or heard anything about it happening locally. Worlds turning yellow.

Any particular variety, or strain type?

              What kind of heat?

I have seen some crops with incredible foliage after cabbaging out but the plant looks on the short and spindly side after bolting.

                Heat not the issue.

Not the issue at all , no one has seen any remote heat to cause blasting yet in western Canada

Not happening in the swamp and rains stopped here 3 weeks ago, but definitely going backwards

Just came from West Central Sask to West AB Canola crops are strange. One right next to another one will look nice next will look like should be plowed. Wonder what is going on? Variety, seeding tool, seed date it is strange. Even everything from obvious drought to drowned out areas.

People are growing lentils in the NE. Isnt that the same thing.

Agronomy has always been pushed to the max to farm this country. After last year, I think heat tolerance might actually be getting better in these hybrids. Seemed to make it through for our area anyway.
