Total rain for the week is 1.14 to 2.76 in of precipitation: some mild hail and lots of wind.
Markets are ****ed as usual get ready for an actual cleaning of the house with a massive drop coming to Canola and wheat and other crops we grow.
The Parasites didn't like that they had to overpay for products last year and still made massive profits but guess what they are going to **** us royally from this day forward.
Farmers got ****ed last year on contracts and they know were scared shitless to pre-price just in case it freezes and nothing will be delivered.
I say **** them Russia is the only country to have a massive crop in Europe yea like that has any actual facts. What are they counting on Ukraine's grain?
Remember 5 or 6 companies control the grain trade all or most are private. They use the market system to their advantage.
So get ready for **** the Farmer Fall again. You have to pay triple for fert and chem and parts and seed and machinery but well pay you 1988 prices.
Today's crop report.
One guy was out and tried his lentils and then it spits and spits some more. Few pea fields are getting close but with rain every few days nothing has happened.
HRS is filling nicely in our area, you can see signs that we have too much water and it is taking some yield but a good rain at this time of year will bring this crop in faster. We need a good two weeks till all will be ready and desiccated. Yield won't be our best ever and I don't think anyone in the area will break the magic 100 but who knows? Fuz even with spraying is out there but mild if sprayed. It was a year to spray for cereals. Early seeded fields are close to getting sprayed probably next week and later seeding is showing signs of changing. Frost would **** up this crop still. Bring on the heat.
Durum later is filling and early is changing. Fuz is out there and Durum doesn't like lots of rain and humidity. Yield will be down but better than last year.
Flax got hit hard with rain and winds and is twisted on most fields some have bounced back up but lots are still twisted. It is filling and all are done flowering. Need three to four weeks.
Barley the late is a twisted mess but the early will also have issues if the rains continue. Rain makes grain but it also is a pain. The yield on late could be huge but it needs time to fill properly. Time will tell.
Peas and lentils are getting desiccated and some early fields could be harvested any day now. We seeded peas from the 9 to 18 th of may thanks to heavy rains. Spraying will happen Friday or Monday and 10 days out well harvest. That's September for peas so a month behind and a big crop will this one get to the bin or be out all winter? Time is running out for the east side. Yields from the west side are not that great and some are very poor. $14. for some is a great price but I locked in half of what I usually do because of last year's buyout shit show.
Canola, I saw a few fields up to Yorkton that just started to flower Monday. Most in our area are now done flowering and that's a good three weeks till we need to do something. We need a frost-free for a month. Big yields could get ****ed if one cold night appears and it's the end of August. The Grain companies are counting on a bumper. The West side isn't delivering that but Manitoba and East Sask have a good Average crop. So Canada wide it is not a bumper for Canola Crop, don't let them fool you. Take a drive if it's not a bread loaf over the whole field it's not a bumper. If you see two gophers ****ing a 100 ft in it's no bumper.
Yes, it's better than last year but **** that doesn't say much.
Green feed harvest has begun and great results for silage and bales.
Some will do a second cut on Alfalfa.
Pastures are doing great and water is not an issue.
So to sum up the week, heavy rain and heat are bringing in the crop faster but time is not on our side.
Oh, the liberals are going to really try to screw farmers with the 30% reduction in Fert, BOBOO was on the radio and Tv this week trying to convince farmers to trust the Liberals. I say **** them they are coming for us and we better be ready, it is happening in other countries, and their farmers are fighting back will ours follow suit or lay down and do nothing? Farm groups have shown which way were going.
Oh, you have till the end of August to get all your money back from Check offs it's just the slimy pulse growers that won't give up the cash, and they still can't figure out why peas don't do well in a pushed rotation.
So enjoy the harvest, let's get it in the bin so we're in control because the game plan is lower commodity prices but everything else just keeps going up and up and up. Stay safe and see you next week.
