I was a little sad that I kept some grain over when crop prices fell, but the more this crop plays out, the more I think macdon’s numbers may come to fruition. Where is macdon anyway? Seems to have vanished…

In the same boat as furrow, but not quite swathing yet. Heat taking its toll on crops. Had a nice crop coming, now turned into an average one.

Small flock of geese went over this morning.

Flying low but are flocking up.

        Seasons are changing.

Some good insight here about Black Sea wheat.

No surprise Russian wheat is crap. If a person has quality wheat it will pay to hold onto it. My nw Sask to Regina road trip to go watch poor reffing and a qb who should be benched. Anyway east of Battleford to Kenaston is bloody awful. Some spots so so but overall a drought. Past there some not bad crops but couldn’t believe how late things are. Sure a variability of weed pressure and crop stands side by side. Is that a thing there? Don’t see it that pronounced at home unless it’s between two operators with varying management practices. Went to Rouleau via the gravel and saw lots of canary seed. Had to stop and ponder what it was before I remembered. Sure a lot more different crops down here.

To much dilution in navigable and fed regulated water ways, so have to go to the private dugouts for the smoking gun.

Moe better start dusting off that NWS clause right now.

Another hot dry week and it looks to continue…………….

My youngest daughter and Bubba came and spent time with me to clean moo poo out of the liner. Then I washed it out to see how bad the floor was and it’s worse than I expected. Now to track down some aluminum checker plate to patch it up.

Cows are doing good considering the heat lately. Prices are creeping up on yearlings which great and hopefully can keep going. The grass has stopped growing and alfalfa is fully bloomed due to the dryness. The later seeded oats is burning up and it’ll be run through the chopper instead of the combine. Don’t need the silage but it’s better than feeding or selling a bunch of light oats.

The early seeded canola is doing much better thankfully. Might be 80% of normal which is a pleasant surprise. Our later stuff which never germinated till it rained in June is burning on the hills and not very pretty.
Very surprised to see the corn putting out two cobs on most plants. Always amazed at how it grows so much volume on such little water compared to cereals. I wonder if it’s roots can out compete the weather to finish filling the cobs? Time will tell…….

Early barley and peas are just getting started on around here and look decent from the road. Great harvest weather at least.

Good luck everyone. Kinda hoping for some rain here but others may not share my enthusiasm for that right now🍀

Looks good, our canola is still 10 days from swathing seeded May 26th.

Surprise so many people still swathing. Hard to imagine laying canola down anymore.
