Hmm, the over exaggeration gets tiresome but flooding does happen just like 200 years ago at times . No doubt May be serious but Just that now we get instant info and 1/2 the info is “hair on fire” reporting , just like the weather reporters during a hurricane with goggles and rain suits pretending to stand up while in the back ground there is tourists in shorts walking about.
Is there not a 7th man killing virus out ?? The potato/ tommato virus now that will kill us all tomorrow or something?

Yesterday on the "news" they stated 2 million acres of crop land was flooded,,, the thing is, they didn't say whether any crops were flooded. They didn't talk about a loss of crops, or food supply or starvation...
Isn't this what happens every year in south asia? They harvest the crops, then monsoons come and recharge the soil for the next crop???

Not sure whether most have noticed, but in the last week or two, the Media has really been pushing out the cc/glowball warming again. Like a new campaign has started,,, usually that always happens when a big meeting is coming up.

The whole history of Pakistan’s existence is defined by floods.

“According to the Federal Flood Commission (FFC) report Pakistan has witnessed 20 major floods; in 1950, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1959, 1973, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1983, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1994, 1995, 2010, 2011 and 2012.”

1950 had almost 2200 deaths.

Obviously the flooding didn't just start in 1950. But the country didn't exist before 1947.

If anything, it looks to me as if the frequency of flooding has decreased over the last 75 years.
So, in response to the thread title, it appears to be just weather. Not unprecedented, not unusual, not worse than before. Still tragic.

AF5. Good research on Pakistan floods. You are right that the country has always had disastrous floods. However your analysis ignores any flood mitigation that Pakistan has done in the last 75 years. If they have done nothing you may be right that floods are not as bad. If however they have built control structures, dredged rivers, and built up embankments and floods are just as bad then your conclusion is faulty. So sis you look at flood mitigation done or just jump to your conclusion because it fit your bias?
