I am sure that the public would support
Fixing the weak parts of medicare.
It is still a bargin at 60% of US healthcare costs.
You could go south and pay 20$ for a tylenol in a hospital . Or a few pennies here for one. plus the one minute of nurses wages to give it to you. Another 2 bucks tops.
Or 200$ for a vial of insulin compared to 30$ here. Etc etc
    .
If you want to create a bunch of jobs that really do not need to exist.and do not do a single thing to make you better. You could try the American system.
Hell billers, adjustors, lawyers ,collection agencys insurance co.s , advertising agents , on and on.
Plus more nurses time to bill for every
    Band aid and 20$ tylenol.
    Oh ya thats progress.
Save money , just fix what we have got.
You didn’t really need this long of a explainer to say you’ve never been to a US hospital.
Is their system perfect? Of course not. But ours is such a complete cluster f@&k it needs a total rebuild. Government can’t and won’t do it so here we are, waiting in emerg…

I agree the government can't do anything efficiently.
Including managing right sizing and channeling efficiencies effectively. Saving money instead of blowing it elsewhere.
IF! managed properly a two service health system should work well.
We have a CWB type now. No one gets ahead except the elites so we all suffer. People are so polarized on this issue however change will be impossible on a factor 100x the cwb. Again, another job for a strong sensible premier. Screw Ottawa.
      Regarding liquor sales.
I can only look back at the govt brick buildings with clockwatcher employees.
Here now it's family businesses. With normally a certain ethnic concentration.
It's still regulated by ALGC. Extended hours alone worth it. You'll look back and go meh.

usa system has problems also but it’s 100% better than the canadian system. ours works if you are close yo death when you hit emerg. i had great service but when your almost septic when you hit the emerg shit gets done and sometimes you make it. i did and thank my Drs and nurses every day the hundreds of administrators can go to hell.

We have had to use the U.S. health system a couple of times on trips south. Thank God we had insurance or we would not be farming today.Service was good , cost was stupid for what we had done. Every little aspect is charged out to a separate company, talk about an adminsrtative nightmare. There was one charge that was sent to the wrong insurance company , over a year later and we had a collectiion agency threating us.Until you have had direct experience with there system, you really have no idea how shitty their system is also.Oh and their medicine is 10 times ours , thats why they come to Canada to fill their prescriptions.

I would never advocate an all or nothing. Which is what we have in North America.
I'm certain there is a better way. We have to stop screaming bloody murder every time any change is mentioned.
