Is AC Navigator another 'Warbuton type' of contract for CWB grain? I understand it is for the high gluten durum wheat, AgPro is handling, and farmers will get a premium over the pool account if they meet the quality criteria. Is this another CWB IP (identity preserved) program? Are there others?

There are a number of variety specific programs offered by the CWB this year. All the programs offer an additional $2.50/tonne that is payable at the time the CWb pays storage after delivery. The varieties that are eligible are AC Crystal (CPSR), AC Vista (CPSW), AC Morse (CWAD). The grain for these programs is to be derived from pedigreed seed. The process is for a 'spring sign-up', to indicate intended acres and indicate pedigreed seed is used. A delivery contract is mailed to the farmer in the fall, and if he has the grade (basically #1 and #2), its called for delivery when the product is needed to meet sales commitments. The storage is from Oct 1 to date of delivery and is 3cents/t/day for first 90 days, 5 cents/t/day for 90-180 days and 7 cents/t/day for over 180 days. These programs aren't specific to any one company. AC Navigator is handled a little bit differently as SWP owns the variety. In addition to the extra $2.50/t, there is also $5.00/t (total $7.50/t over pool return) for Navigator to reflect the higher value of this strong gluten variety. Contact SWP or AgPro for sign up, program details, etc as they are handling this exclusively. The spring sign up forms are to be completed by June 23, 2000 and are available from seed growers and at most primary elevators. These programs are to ensure there is enough volume to continue full scale commercial market testing and to service existing markets. Tom
