Way off topic but silver and gold took a big jump today with silver up 5%+

A 1967 Quarter will melt for $3.75, 50 cent for $7.50, Silver dollar for $15+

A McDonalds single burger sells for $2.79 today or less than a 1967 Quarter.

Big Mac is is $6.19 or less than the 50 cent coin.

I assume you can do similar with gold values.

A very good suit cost 1 oz. of gold 300 years ago, it still costs 1 oz. of gold or less.

In Diocletian's Rome at 301 AD gold converted to U.S. dollar equivalent, a beer cost about $2 and a steak around $4.50, So gold has an ability to hold it's value over centuries making it a good store of value.

In the "golden era" post WW1 the majority of technology was invented, technology we use today was invented under the gold standard, money that had a store of value and did not depreciate quickly.

Courageous you say? Twice now within a year my MasterCard has been compromised. Last year some one bought a $3500 Apple Pay on my card, big job getting that charge cancelled, now last month on the new card, some one in Dublin used it six times and charged almost $4000 to this card. My dentist said everyone in the office has been hacked, one had charges for a greenhouse on his card just this week. It’s not uncommon at all, I can’t spend my life checking, hanging on the phone line for an hour and begging them to remove fraudulent electronic transactions. Life’s too short!

I get a new credit card # every year, bit of a hassle but also stops some of the auto renewing payments for things you don’t want (computer software on computer you don’t use, Sirius XM on a radio you don’t even own anymore, etc).

I think Visa is a little bit better on the fraud prevention as well, could be wrong though.

I doubt Japan and Mexico are walking away from USD.

There are also likely others that do substantial business in USD like Turkey.

We were down in PV for 3 months this year and I can tell you they don’t want Canadian pesos or Mexican pesos, preferably USD. Interestingly the Mexican pesos appreciated over both the USD and the CDN this winter.
