    wheat and possible freeze

market wires full of news of upcoming freeze and possible kick

my broker has reccomended up to 10% sales of new season about a month ago standard grade wheat was $406 per tonne dec delivery with fixed grade spreads or $401 with floating grade spreads.

i didnt price any currently as of friday fowards are at $388. Missed the opportunity but might get another chance.

And the back peddling by russia on wheat deal adding to possible upside

Feed barley fowards $305 nov very stable not huge volatility.

Domestic barley may well be better than that there foward pricing for nov delivery starts in late aug sept usually

You got your bounce late in the day?

Says Cash futures up 3.68% / 36-6 Ct on zero trade.

Can anyone explain to a novice how they come up with that number?

July futures up 15.2 trading in a 25 cent range.

Lots of volatility for whatever that means?

Still holding all of 22 wheat. Maybe there was a reason why I didn’t sell.
Been through frost events, we all have, they aren’t nice.

Your not alone, hoping wheat will rally but it seems that grain companies want to wait it out. Basis is poor, need that to improve before prices get better.

No doubt they are being extremely reluctant

I believe that the forecast for the freezer are in great doubt:

                            Jet stream:

Areas where winter wheat is in bad shape… some have been zeroed out by crop insurance…. Frost could force second growth of tillers?

                            Cheers

The frost damage has been priced in already as it can’t do much damage to a crop that is in already bad shape.
But that’s all they can talk about now is the rain coming. Unfortunately, it’s going to miss the bad areas. Even so it’s not going to do much help.
It’s just a way to buy some cheap wheat.
