Good morning. May showers bring life to the prairies but wet snow and rain delay seeding a lot.
I said we would be finally going between the 8 th and 12 th of May and even if it wasn’t very much it’s started.
In our area you have the just got to go mud players, and some that have so much they have to start so do on lighter dirt. But basically no one is going full bore.
Yesterday a little rain storm crossed the valley and picked up all the way to Manitoba. We averaged 4/10 across the farm but as it went east not sure how high the amounts went.
Next week is very hot temps but we still have Friday's low pressure to get by first.
Crop Report.
Seeding is in full force in northern and western side of Saskatchewan. The Se and east central is behind. Province is at 12% completed.
The ground still has frost in it on east side.
I am surprised a few peas and lentils are going in on east side. Most are seeding wheat right now. Friend in NE Sask has 17000 acres of wheat in already, no snow and no rain so just seed.
When we really get going about 10% to 30% of the fields won’t get seeded due to excess moisture. Sprayed a half the other day and water all over the place.
So good luck all hopefully you get the rain and stay safe it’s just a crop that they are working over time to take. Kansas Oklahoma Texas are ****ed. Australia could be dry and who actually believes Ukrainian farmers are seeding in a war zone.
Happy farming.
