Your Overhead cost near ZERO. Neighbor with 8810 and poly packers does a perfect job, $10,000, maybe, for seeding unit value.

I used an 8810 with poly independent packers but in our heavy clay and the crop always came up really slow. Cart tracks would come up good.
Switched to a 5710 with steel packers and crop come up nice and even all across.
In our soil the 8810 just can’t pack enough to get good seed to soil contact

That’s why we switched to those K Harts , not perfect but they are way better than the Polly gangs by a long shot

We have a 8810 with poly packers, set up with liquid side band. Seeded next to a BG 3320 this spring. Same day, both spring wheat. You can’t tell where the line between the two is .

Compare the depreciation costs...and no advantage?

This one most interesting trial …
Friend of ours NE of me seeded HRSW late last fall
Into dry soils , like nearly everywhere last fall
                    This is today ….

Flowering nice , but like all crops here needs rain very , very soon

About knee high. And surprisingly even
This is stuff you don’t see everyday ……

Only 5 k away spring seeded wheat is dying off now from lack of moisture..

That was all nice and green a week ago
This area missed that critical rain last week

Those pictures by Square hill on that radar map . Only 25 k away
We are right on the edge , literally.
Soil holding us in there , but canola turning shades of blue last two afternoons

When they talk about a “million dollar rain” ……. Well the other 50% of the time it’s the opposite when you miss even one critical rain . But they are seen as complainers, and that is so wrong …. Reality is not nice
