Wheat quality going to take a hit if this verifies...
Talk about a double whammy. Small crop due to drought, and then it turns wet and you can’t get it out of the field.

The days leading up to July 17th could make the markets interesting as well, as Russia begins sabre rattling about extending the Black Sea deal again

2 out of 10, or 1 out of 9. That is almost statistically insignificant.
You must have also been a hail insurance adjuster in a former stint as a school teacher?

I recently found out that you are not considered to be a farmer in eastern Canada unless you put up hay.
So far we have net wrapped 2500, 1400#ers, and laid down another 500 since June 10 start. We will quit cutting when we tire of this bullshit. Worst is when you're done, you are still not done.
The stuff is at least three weeks ahead of normal.
We are actually compliant with Trudeau's 30% set aside to idle land when he pulls the trigger on us. Hopefully he will let us crop the remainder, but I have my doubts. I know one thing, farming hay is only worth doing when there is a shortage. Wasting too much time, and manpower when it's in an abundance. We leave it stand. It would be far easier to crop.
Want to buy a load of hay, furrow, to put on your acreage, so you can call yourself a farmer?Last edited by checking; Jul 7, 2023, 07:03.
