Later seeded crops are looking better than early ones. Everyone’s canola here is patchy. Thought it was just mine but went for a drive. Wheat is anywhere from pre flag to heading. Moisture situation isn’t pressing by any means but no bumper on the way so far.

All of don’t matter when completely wiped out with hail . Just got home , went for quick drive , we got nailed on some but have a few neighbours just NE , it’s pounded through the dirt , 80 % of what they have is toast .
Shitty reality in farming , sometimes is does not matter how hard you try , or how you do it

And today's prize for ignorance goes to:

At the same time, I don't feel ridicule is positive. A drag queen emphasizing his lifestyle could be interpreted as ridiculing the rest of us. Your post ridiculed indigenous and gays; Those two groups have been abused and discriminated against. They deserve justice and fairness but as I said identity politics are of limited merit.

Another hot week out west…..
The heifers are sure enjoying the grass after the rain. Unfortunately the hoppers are too.
About half the pasture isn’t keeping up to the hoppers. Wherever it winter killed or is drier, or an older stand is really suffering. The newer stands are definitely pulling their weight in these challenging conditions. We underseeded a bunch of alfalfa pasture this year so hopefully it turns out so we can rip up some tired grass to rotate it out. Fell behind on that the last few years and definitely are trying to catch up.
Did another parade with the 4-H club and having a heifer on the trailer is a great thing. Even in a small town it’s surprising to see how many people have never been closer to a bovine than seeing them from the highway. Got first place in our category and the kids get right into the decorating.
Doing some fencing and there’s some landscaping required before the posts go in. Nothing feels better than ripping out 60+ year old fence, touching up the contours, and stringing new wire with swinging gates. The old gates that required a up to date tetanus shot to open or stretchers since the braces rotted away are highly overrated.
Just gotta figure out why the transmission is overheating on the cat before we continue though. Always something to fix around here………
The crush plant is taking the last of the canola tomorrow which will be nice to move. Even if it means cleaning a couple of bins in the heat of the day.ðŸ€
My brother pulled the boat into the shop to start checking it over and the kids noticed and sure got excited. Might have to pull them out of school if things work out here and go before the weekend crowd goes to the lake. Always a good time.
Hopefully everyone gets enough enough moisture if they need it. Things could be better here but they’ve been way worse before so definitely no complaints.
CheersðŸ»

Keep a close eye on those baby alfalfa plants those hoppers just LOVE those. Sprayed rye grass for army worms that very costly stuff $30/acre. Son doesn't know how we are going to make much by the time it's combined nicklel and dime never ends it seems.

Absolutely can’t keep spending money in situations like that . There are many areas in just about the same situation now or will be in 5-10 days .
