Drought stricken wheat now full of weeds

It was so dry there are many thin short headed out wheat stands. Last 10 days 3-4 inches of rain. Now the fields suddenly being overtaken by weeds. Has anybody successfully sprayed weeds in this situation? With what spray?

Will be 'enjoying' this problem on my farm this summer. Both methods will be employed to combat including preharvest and swathing. The other thing that will happen is there will be late tillers that will still be green when 85% of crop is ripe making the timing of the above anybodies guess and delay the weed control measures until there is viable weed seeds.

I have grown LL canola for many years, so yes a pre harvest will certainly help in my case. Predominant issue is volunteer canola and many guys grow RR canola, so pre harvest won’t touch it. Yes you can add heat, more dollars.

If you think roundup will kill all your LL canola I think you will be disappointed. We have fields that never had a roundup ready crop in them til we planted corn and when sprayed a lot survived. Leads to a more expensive cocktail every year to control those “weeds”😉

For those who need a drink soon, there’s hope. I peaked at the satellite a few minutes ago and there are a lot of red cells south of us. Keeping our fingers crossed, yesserie.

Neighbor has round up canola growing in his rented bean field. They had wheat on the field last year.

Can't remember how many years ago the previous renter had canola growing on it.

For that very reason and a couple of others so few farmers growing beans seed Canola anymore here in Manitoba.

Have had volunteer canola wreck canola seed hybridity five years after hybrid seed production.
