Dry in that strip, and some early worm pressure yup . Later seeded canola went into dry soil there in areas .
Yet just east they have very good crops in a strip Paynton through Delmas and in a north south line from Wilkie to Cutknife up to Edam Turtleford . But they have got nearly every rain at critical times . Not lots but at critical times when needed

There is a pile of canola acres that are not the greatest even into Central Sask.

Rain a little late for my oats but canola doing good. Sons silage corn is over 6ft this morning sowed on the 10th of May. Hay crops not bad but compared to last year there good because they got hailed out. Beans are good moisture wise just need lots of sunlight. Everybody sick of dealing with hoppers and worms.

Drove Regina to Calgary today. Everything west of about an hour from MJ all the way to Basano pretty much toast. Little better closer to Calgary but not much. Some very small canola might benefit from a quick inch but it’s patchy.

Guys irrigating some fields and they look ok but not sure they have the water to keep this up another month without rain.

Left side Hodge right side Starbucks but seeding date of Starbucks is two later.

Have Hodge and Starbuck next to each other , sprayed with Prosaro 2 days ago and see no difference in maturity at this point. Hopefully will get some rain to get a good yield trial, otherwise data gets skewed by which variety had the most low spots.

This tells a story all on its own about soil moisture

Dug out some trees a few days ago to make room for some reorganizing in yard .
Absolutely zero moisture in ground , trees and roots snapped off . And this tree row had about a 8-9 ft snowbanks on east side of yard
Think about that , it’s not July 1st even . Many places worse than here

Drove from Yorkton to Calgary yesterday. Crop nicest at Yorkton down to Regina, some late but look nice. Regina to Moose Jaw look nice but later again. Moose Jaw to Calgary are horrible. Brooks to Gleichen in particular looked very patchy and poor. Not sure if emergence, cutworms, or grasshoppers but worst crops I’ve seen in a long time .
