Not much chance at some rain for the next week but at least some cooler temps for the canola.

Some hazy smoke in the air too might blunt the heat as well.

Been getting timely rains and stuff looks not bad. Worst by far is early seeded wheat and canola. Later seeded looks great. Neighbour lady who seems to know every nature sign seen golden rods blooming in the pasture. Said 60 days from first frost.

New dwarf variety Durum at 47 days today no flag leaf yet but about 10-12 stools per plant at only 10 inches tall. Very different appearance - time will tell. We need a good soaker with all those stools, 2/10 two nights ago not cutting it.

Took a little drive yesterday Stettler to Drumheller, came home by Carbon, Three Hills, Trochu. Very dry in Big valley Byemore area all the way to north side of Drum. Very patchy short canola, thin short cereals, decent pea crops. West of Drum to Carbon then Trochu, crops definitely look better, still a bit dry. Canola in that general area will definitely be below average. Cereals might get close to average but I doubt it.
