Fungicide budget here was spent on grasshopper spray.

Will be watching here now for diamond backs next week or so . They tend to show up on damaged / stressed crops .
Have not heard anything yet but if they are here they will show up soon
Surely hope there is none , some canola fields , and big areas in other fields not worth trying to save between trampling , fuel , depreciation, time and wear and tear .

It wasn’t even “fun deciding” to spray. The lack of rain and the sun did a great job.

Drew’s prognostication is summed up in one word … BLEAK.

You just answered your own question.
There may not be much old crop left. I’m keeping for seed, who knows what’s ahead yet.

There are contracts being bought out already.

                Sad times!!

Do you leave test strips to see if it makes a difference? Historically I spray some canola with fungicide. But I can’t say I see a difference in yield. Wheat and barley certainly but with canola very rare we get enough rain to cause an issue. Our canola crops are starting to look really good but to late to spray them now anyways.

My buyer at the local crusher said last week was her busiest week since she started 7 years ago. Buying up lots of old and new crop.

Weather network did add rain to the forecast for Tuesday.
Fingers crossed it shows up for all but never trust a weather forecast!

Same here , but I only validate that with Windy.com
There is something coming , 10-14 days too late for 1/2 the crop here . Will help a few later ones and yes some of the hailed out canola from June 25th . Although 1/2 the regrowth there is just hanging on by a thread from old broken stems .
Looks ok from road but not sure how it will finish out with or without rain .
They have not really been wrong on short term forecasts , just that it’s been extremely spotty and in the same strips for the most part

Lock them up. If we don’t get any significant rain from Tuesdays forecast yields will be poor here I think even on stuff that looked like a good crop.

                            Hoping and praying…

Our peas are starting over… about half of them are blooming… fungicide done on them…. Thin but enough time for half a crop…

I do lots of experiments half a section might be one fungicide the other half another I leave test strips and we have yield on the go so you can spot of a difference.

Every field is different for us on fungicides.
