Changes to the Grain Grading Guide

I see a couple changes to wheat standards coming in regards to Test Weight and Foreign Material that farmers should be aware of.
Primary standards will align with Export standards.

Dockage and FM are 2 different things. Dockage is what is removed and FM is what is left in after cleaning.

Has anyone really paid much attention to what their test weight is? Also doesnt it matter more on the $/bushel vs just having a #1 or #2 grade on the ticket?

All depends on the year on what the spreads are on grades, protein and other factors an d what ever yields more for the grain companies. We are just price takers and have no really control over the spreads.

When are grains and oil seeds going to be bought and sold based on dry matter content, so no one has to look over their right shoulder?

Do farmers let it go at that, or do you call out the Commission for trying to make the changes to see why and why they didn't let farmers know they were even considering changes? Is the CGC still working In the Interest of Producers like the mandate reads?

It seems the chief commissioner was acting in the interests of the WGEA, not the producers, until he got knocked back. This is directly contrary to the Act under which the CGC operates. Should he not be fired?

I think the farm groups have to pat themselves on the back for a while. The changes will come when they are sleeping anyways.

Last Gov't made sure right people were in place to carry on their mission. Ritz wanted to scrap the Act as it was especially "In the Interest of the Producer"!
