Well, where did July go?
My next question is, where did all the rain go? We hit 5 to 9 inches between May 1 to July 1, then basically nothing in July.
Crops are losing yield in our area or just holding, not gaining. Province-wide, a few areas gained that got rain and a few had that were disasters, but overall, the last week, bushels were lost.
Okay, I saw this on Tic Toc, and I agree someone has to say it.
Sophie left Trudeau because she got tired of him screwing Canadians instead of her.
Crop report.
Hrs and Durum are in the filling stage; the average is six rows and 14 spiklets. I don't think it will hit last year's yield overall. Odd head has died from disease, but min. You can find Grasshoppers, but not many. How well the last kernels will fill is up to Mother Nature, but we have moisture below, so if it cools, it could be okay. Extreme heat wasn't good except it spread up the maturation.
Peas and lentils are entering the final week before major spraying starts to shut them down, and a few have started that seeded early. Peas look okay and could reach last year's yields. They beat the heat. Lentils are OK with heat and ground moisture and are maturing on the same level
Barley is coming in fast, and some next week will swath if a window opens for a nice dry 5-day heat run. Swath and harvest in 5 days, not last year's yields, but still lovely.
Oats is having some issues with the heat and will be a bit lighter. It's still weeks away from harvest.
The canary seed looks excellent on most fields that have good fertility.
Flax is done flowering and doing ok.
Canola, which was seeded early in our area, is great. It's the later seeded that's having issues with the heat. One rain would still save later and really late but then frost could be a key factor. Weeks away till harvest will begin. Some lighter areas are getting creamed and areas that missed the early July 1 rain are going backwards.
