Yup, in my 55 years, majority in our spot on earth are TOUGH harvests. Dryer a must for wheat. Swathing only if forecast can be trusted. Canola country, rain actually makes it easier to harvest.

Got a shot here last night. Lucky we’ve had a couple shots so canola pods won’t shrivel to the seeds. Been counting seeds in the heads and for as good as stands look from the road nothing will be much more than average at best.

What is your method for estimating yield? Think my average seeds/head is 30. It’s just determining plants per square foot. I’m on a 10” space but a lot of the calculators give all kinds of answers. It’s funny the seed per head in the hills is better than on the level good land but plants per foot looks better. Oat crops are lousy but barley is probably the best looking crop I have. Weird year.

Finished peas , 10% below average
60% of normal (in the swamp) where the rain experts had us at “adequate” for moisture
This is NE Sk , where there is apparently a good crop according to Sk ag , big surprise coming
Just a hint to those experts, hotter than normal june with no rain june and july won’t make a GOOD crop
And another 4 tenths last night to make it even harder to get what little there is
Probably 2 inches here in last 10 days after it was too late and late enough to make sure we spent as much as possible on this dud crop

Just seeds per head and plants per square foot .
So hard to judge this year cause of the huge variability within each field .
Yesterday it was 15 in dried out areas and up to 80 in draws . But too many dry areas this year will bring averages way down in most fields and too few draws
The odd field that had good snow catch will be reasonable, but that far and few between here
