Was I just imaging that they, as a minimum, had to be 38 lbs?

$12 peas, that isn't at all locations in Western Canada. Edmonton area maxed out at $11. Might as well be more specific Larry.

The market for yellow peas is not $12. One processor is paying that for fractionation. Market will not support $12 yet. Will it get there? It's possible but without Chinese demand it's going to take time. I don't see it happening this fall with the current attitude in the market. Almost impossible to sell yellow peas for export today. I hope I am wrong but too many demand issues for peas. I actually expected this market to have some level of rally this fall but it is minimal so far. If growers do start to sell any volume it likely goes lower in price.

There is speculation that India could come to Canada for peas (they have bought none in 5 years) later in crop year but it's pure speculation on Indian production. This could cause significant increase in price. Otherwise I am not so sure this thing can move up much.

What happened to that government funded Merit Functional Foods that was supposed to help farmers by giving them another domestic outlet to sell peas to?

125000 tonnes per year for 100 million dollars of taxpayer money, maybe more as FCC was in on it too.

Poof the money is gone waiting for a 10cent on the dollar bid.
