Unfortunately we’re in the northern part of this system but this break will give us to catch up on some repairs and finish up most of the canola swathing.

Unfortunately it looks like this system is heading your way Furrrowtickler with a bit of colour on the radar.

Just a sprinkle east of Regina, I heard 4/10 at Echo Lake, double that NE of Fort QuAppelle. South was missed this time.

Ya we got er about 7:30 am , biggest single rain for some of us this year … go figure .
1/2 to 1 inch in area . Some small hail in areas.
                Lots of lightning ⚡️.
I kept going on swather , finally got finished the last of the canola by 2 pm .
Nobody be moving anywhere around here for a few days for sure

Was strange day . Fog at 5:30 am , lightning through the hog by 7 , heavy rain by 7:30 then back to fog mist before sun . Then a few more showers roaming around .
                Perfect for mid July

Hail storm last night caught one qrt of our wheat with 50 % damage. Neighbours canola… 100 % on 12 qrts. With crop and hail ins he is prob better off.

That hail would be 2 years to the day that our friend had half his Canola hailed (about 1500 acres). Grandson reminded me of that yesterday afternoon and I said, “it doesn’t” normally hail this late in the year. I think our Canola will be ok.”. Hmmm, never assume anything.

Forecast looked great for a whole week , until it changed again

Grain barely gets dry , giver 2-3 days then sit
My guess that pattern might be set now regardless of long term “forecasts”

The august 30 storm took out at least 100000 ac of canola in our area. There was no canola harvested when it hit and i know of twelve BTO with at least 5000 plus acres that got wiped out. Some are very happy with good insurance coverage.

We have a few canola fields and several in area that would make way more being hailed out right now . Especially as this canola price keeps drifting lower.

Hail adjuster out yesterday, 62% on my wheat.Neigbors canola 100%, they started combining it and are getting a tridem load per quarter. So with hail and crop ins and 5 bu/ac they are doing a happy dance in the field.
