    Parts ……

It was ridiculous before, but now even the parts people are embarrassed. Just about $1000
Picked up two knife head bearings for a Massey swather from Saskatoon today . Local dealer was not open , had to pay to drag someone there to check this morning but nope , maybe 3 days . Stoon had 6 , was going in 4 hours .
    Regardless, it’s beyond insane
We bought one 3 years ago for less than $200

Old crusty guy (with smokers hack ) retired from jobber's shop and I think they threw out one of his barring books. Young pups lost if you don't have a number stamped on old barring so you are forced to go to dealer and pay top price to get going right away.

I happen to have a couple of those in stock. I used to run honeybee headers which also use Schumacher drives. I should have realized they were turning into gold. Most bearings are at least double some triple in cost over 3 years ago. The government’s BS 3% inflation claim just further degrades their level of trust from the electorate. But $500 just seems ridiculous.

I had a few of those old bearing books.
Don't recall how I got them but I think you could ask for last year's books if you made a friend at the parts counter at a bearing supply.

They were like big city phone books but were easy to use.

I don't know if it's possible anymore but having a relationship with a good partsman at a bearing supply outlet is much more than wholesale pricing.

Quality is a thing with Bearings. Some are engeneered for light duty and some are made for long life in industrial applications.

It's better if the guy you buy from knows that.

We have had the same guy at the local bearing shop since I was old enough to remember. He retired this summer. 3 young folks filling his shoes now. Nothing compares to decades of experience. I think he had every bearing number memorized.

How about the counter person turning to Google for everything. I might as well do their job before I come in.
And Case for example ,doesn't let you find shit online. When I win the lottery I'm getting a green shed.
            A driveshaft I wrecked a year ago was $650, today $1000 🤣

We're talking the bearing on the bottom with the knife head block attachment?

If it's the same thing, I picked up 2 for $675 total at local RME...

CNH online parts is nowhere near Deere’s but can still find everything I need on there?

                  Depends on model
The 5300 header uses a heavier bearing and block , is over $100 more . The older Massey 5100 and 5200 use a smaller bearing block for their Schumacher drives

There is quite a difference when seen side by side .
Or if same I got screwed even worse lol

Picked up some knife guards for the fella last week. The ones that overlap are $90 each!

                    Expensive rocks.

Case ih used to be excellent for looking stuff up but whatever changes have been made have turned it completely useless on my phone or iPad.
