We will try canola today that hasnt been sprayed. Had the plane booked but with the smoke they are days behind. Lots in our area chewing tru ugly fields and are shipping total production to local terminls as they dont want to store with all the green plant material in sample.

Grew the crop with a very limited root system only having the top foot or less of dirt accessible due to the dry season?

Never had a chance to use nutrients from any deeper?

Roots won't grow through a dry layer and all those small showers only wet it down a couple of inches.

That's my theory on why my pasture stalled in mid season and responded very little to the occasional showers.
Looks better than normal for this time of year after getting about 4 inches since early August.

How many farmers use the CGC Harvest sample program or the Subject Too service?

Nice! Be sure to divide the sample down using a proper divider then keep your representative portion to run through protein machine to check to see if they are accurate.

CGC does not monitor grain probes or PX machines or grading at elevator that is up to farmers to check and watch for accuracy. That was one of the recommendations put forward in the review but never implemented.

We will send samples away as well , usually do when falls like this happen and grain buyers try to squeeze every nickel through grades and protein

I wouldn’t be complaining too much even that price.

Have friends taking off 10 canola.

I have to spray a 640 ac 15 bu canola crop just so I don’t have to combine it end of Sept, talk about a waste of money.

                Couldn’t get a hail storm.

Even if canola was $20 it still wouldn’t be enough for some.
Ya but ur getting an extra 20@ $18.83 from scic. So what are we talking about here? End of the day scic will pay the bills again this year for many farms and then some. Glass half full or half empty?……

There’s a lot of harvest left todo. We are pecking away but showers every couple of days sure doesn’t help. Guess be thankful, it’s not inches. We’ve seen very black swathes over the years.

Which varieties furrow. So far, I am not too happy with L357, first time trying it. Didnt seem to handle the heat well and bloody hard to thrash out compared to what we have used before.

Perhaps better pod shatter trait but sacrifice yield and heat tolerance.
