Few years, not that many really, and equipment was smaller, farmers all used pilot cars and they would pull over on approaches to let cars by that were behind them or when not enough room when meeting cars.
Today even a narrow tractor and baler won't pull onto the shoulder on highways so cars can pass, the other day there was about 15 cars, trucks and semi's following and they passed 4 or 5 approaches the tractor had lots of room and opportunity to let traffic by.
The people on the highways were working people too especially the big trucks, some were maybe even in a hurry to get back to the field.
Respect and consideration for others Works both ways.

Half the time i just throw on my left turn signal then turn right...
Head fake.
Quick decision!!

One thing that baffles me is people , especially those that should know better like fellow farmers , that can see you coming for at least a mile but refuse to or just simply too dense to pull into an approach or a crossroad to let you by . Most times it would take them 30 seconds to a minute at most to wait , but nope , they will drive right past an approach then be mad that they are half in the ditch when passing equipment. It’s simply baffling how stunned some can be at certain times if the year .
I always pull over over to let equipment go by when I see them coming or vice versa , will pull over when opportunity is there with equipment to let vehicles pass .
Life is too short to be stupid, especially this time of year and seeding time .

Yes it works both ways.
I see increasing legislation regarding moving equipment. We can't keep assuming everyone understands or just knows, nor can we keep knocking over rail crossing signs for example. A Humboldt is coming.
There is double the traffic from a generation ago, none of which grew up on a farm, and equipment is 3 times larger.
I do it too but it's a matter of time.

The thing that gets me is when the local BTO moves all 4 combines , 2 grain carts and 3 or 4 trucks and service truck in a “paradeâ€
Can you imagine how much time is lost waitin on each other to get in “parade positionâ€
I guess they do it so they think they control the road ?
Anyway it is just plain stupid for them and the other road users
Heads up , The parade doesn’t impress anyone
