Anyone know what the white powder dusting off in canola is this year? I have never seen this before. It’s only in the Invigor varieties I have noticed when swathing at a pretty ripe stage. Seen it in L345 and L356, maybe only slightly in L343. Not in any Pioneer, Brett Young, or Canterra, and not in L340. Powders up the swather like icing sugar blowing in the wind. Worst in low areas.

Googled up white dust in canola. Apparently there is a type of powdery mildew in canola. My swather is all white just like the one in the pictures in the link below.

Says it’s rare. Maybe not anymore. Makes sense as it’s very variety specific I have noticed this year.

Nothing like that in drought area
Fungicide waste of money in 70% of the fields here. Sticks don’t need fungicides unfortunately

L340 very dusty but yielding above expectations and feeds well.
505 not much dust but feeds like willows.
May have a yield advantage?

We found a very clean sample with 505 .
Could be part of the schlero resistance, healthier plant , possibly.
Yield advantage , depends on area .

I grew 3 truflex rr varieties. Out of all one looked as if it developed a taste for hookers and blow. Other two no dust. Harvest wise I don’t think it affected yield as it was about the same as the others beside it.
