Don’t need fungicides with zero subsoil and 3.5 in rain . Ever

Every area is different but I can honestly say on this farm it pays every year on cereals. Worst case scenario is a break even. Canola not so much. Has to be real wet to get a ROI. Just puts more hours on the sprayer.

Now you need 6.4 bushels the following year to break even. Not hard to get upside down on ROI of fungicides imo. Do most guys even leave check strips?
left check strip on canola. 7 bpa less on checkstrip . left checkstrip on wheat a few years ago. 20 bpa less on checkstrip

I think with cropping practices and tight rotations, disease control will probably be more necessary and more common - even in the drier areas. Susceptible host crops are an opportunity for those organisms.

We done 400 ac of canola ,, tank full each on 4 quarters
Can honestly say we got zero , we weigh check strips lots
Didn’t leave any on peas or wheat before we realized we were in a severe drought , so don’t know ?
Have saw big increases over the years ; i.e. 9 bu/ac canary and flax, 15 bu wheat , etc.
we only had 3.5” in the growing season

Well, the section we applied pig shit on is going to take quite a bit more time than I thought. Lodged and thick plus we got stuck also later last night.

Today is another day, one step closer to finishing.
What kind of a bump do you think you get from the manure?

How many yrs does it last?

Where has all the NH3 gone… long time passing…

Nutrien is pushing the Net Zero “sustainable “ ESG movement…. Is this why Nutrien and Agrium not shipping AND providing NH3 this fall???

                    Amazing…

Still grinding away out west here. Probably half the neighborhood is done and the rest are like us.
Called in the neighbour who does custom chopping as we’re too far behind to do it ourselves. Keeping it packed good is a challenge when they’re doing 17-1900 ton a day. Yielding way better than expected and this pile will probably sit till next winter.

Still choking swathes through that just won’t ripen or dry down. Currently taking 10.3% canola and that’s the closest to dry this year. Dried lots of 20% barley so far and there’s bagged tough oats to deal with sometime.

Had an accident a few weeks ago on a day we weaned a bunch of calves. A fellow who works for us rolled a quad and got banged up pretty bad. Fractured a bunch of ribs and cut his face pretty badly. Spent a few days in the hospital and is now home recovering for a few months. It was bad but could have been a lot worse and we’re grateful it wasn’t.

Hopefully the weather hangs in for a bit to finish up out here since the line is within sight now.

Good luck to everyone still slugging away out there🍀

Still slugging away out here too. Down to 400 acres of canola left. Still visibly green in spots. Stubble very green. Seed ranges from 10 to 15% moisture. Spent all of August and September paranoid about a frost, had a few close calls, now in October, it won't freeze when we need it.

We aren't the only ones still going, but getting to be an exclusive club.
