Tom, how much do you have left? We were one day away thanks to my neighbours who helped out - even they now have some of their crop under six inches of snow. Now that's true community spirit!! Forcast is bleak, I thinks it's time to put the combine in the shed.

Crusher;
One day left as well; are not giving up yet!
Canola will be toast that is out over the winter... must be 15% left out in northern Alberta?
Flat unswathed cerial crops from Sept snow are unlikely to get harvested this year... too wet now and too low to the ground... swather was a manditory tool of harvest to get flat grains this year...

Incognito;
Talked at coffee shop to an AFSC Crop Inspector... initial estimate of Alberta crop left to harvest... 10-20%.
Some areas in Northern Alberta have up to 60% left unharvested. The ground was too wet to hold combines up... and in the last week when it did firm up pesky showers kept many at a stand still.

With the price of diesel, trucks trailers & drivers all going up Agricore High Level is getting more business. Trucks $85-$90/hr 8 hours round trip $680 The other day Cargil Rycroft (which was full) quoted canola at $5.95 Agricore High Level was $5.63
1 2000bu load canola would make $640 more in Rycroft minus trucking $680
2 trucking firms here said they were not going to haul one of frain until the rates at the local off rail elevator went up. Fuel would eat up 60% of what they make. Thats why canola is so popular up here imagine trucking oats $1.60/bu to Manola of Alberta oats
Land in the north is over priced when you consider trucking costs.
