    A novel idea?

    Seeing as how we are all free enterprizers here how would this go over?
    Lets scrap the whole concept of crop insurance?
    No more government involvement? Just you and Mutual of Omaha?
    Would that be a good thing? Would it be a fair thing in relation to other ag commodities?

    Cowman;

    Kind of like ending BSE packages when cattle folks get hurt with factors beyond their control?

    When a 1 in 100 year disaster hits... it is only fair to have a system in place.

    If the US, EU, and other major competitors were all on an even base of crop insurance/disaster protection... I would consider that for us though!

    How about the ASRA program in QUebec... it assures farmers there $7.00/bu for feed wheat... and $4.25/bu for corn. When feed grains come in from other parts of the world, the Quebec farmer just dumps into Ontario... and collects on ASRA I am told! What a deal eh Cowman!

      Cowman ,I believe gov`t insurance should be scrapped.Since until recently only <60% of Ab. producers carried it.What the main reasons were for not carrying it I don`t know, but still, if that`s the only mechanism for getting back some of the billions we send east(to prop up feed grain prices etc.),there should be a better way for ALL producers to CHOOSE how they spend this money and not be beholding to some bureaucrat in Lacombe!!
