The latest Federal Government scheme to reform grain transportation is little more than an attempt to tinker with a problem in hopes it will somehow go away at least until the next election. If the Esty Report and the Kroeger Report don't tell the feds what to do about the grain transportation problem then nothing will. If there is any benefit to producers at all it will be to reduce the transportation price hike recently awarded to the railways. This will not help much. Other proposals in their plan are somewhat nebulous and bear close scrutiny.
