canola still in the field

On our return trip from Edmonton today, we noticed several fields of unthrashed canola between lloydminster and North Battleford. Can someone tell me why it was not harvested last fall? Green count, too tough, early snow and will there be anything left in the pods?

An early snow storm ended many harvests on October 15th... and some were waiting for green seed to clear from the crop as well.

Don't feel bad if you still have some out, happens all over. My next door neighbour has corn standing, there are a few others trying to combine soybeans this week but they aren't making all that many trips to the truck to dump.
