Thoughts on Western Canadian Pulse Acres

I see Sask Ag and Food put out their first acreage estimates (Statistics Canada out this Thursday). Peas and lentils up. Mustard and canary seed down. Chickpeas and sunflowers steady. All comparing last year.

What are you seeing in your community (let us know the general region) with regards to acreage shifts relative to last year/normal rotations?

Just as a note on the pulse side, kabuli chickpeas are a crop of opportunity in the coming year if you have the agronomic package on your farm (adequate frost free days/low disease incidence) and can find seed.

Charlie, see acres in Southern Alberta as last year. Good starting moisture, some peas out, mostly seeded. Some Kabulies, but limited seed available. Will seed next week 150 acres Kabulies. Read a note on India "will only buy if price is right" goes together that my friends see it the same way " will sell if the price is right", question is who blinks first. Grower price should be $4.50 bushel.
