    Cais

    Crusher...
    Is the Estimated Reference Margin what one might get or is it the Estimated Partial 1/3 Account Balance Requirement plus another 2/3 I tried to ask Cais but the girl I asked got excited when I asked if the Reference Margin was what a person could expect?

    Cais is too much work if your only going to get enough to buy a whopper. Every Cais applicant in my opinion should get a minimum $1000 to cover the applicants time & accounting cost.

    Allfarmer;

    Let us say your reference margin is $100,000.

    Losses Between $1 and $15,000 are shared 50% if a $15,000 loss you are reqiured to match $7500 with the program's $7500.

    Losses between $15001 and $30000 are shared 70% by the CAIS and 30% by you... a $30000 loss requires $7500 plus $4500@ your 30% share or $12000 you match to get $18000 from CAIS.

    Any losses greater than $30000, are share 20% by you, 80% by the program, so the case of a $100000 loss in margin would mean a match of $12,000 plus $14000 or a total of $26000 you match to get $74000 from CAIS.

    In negative margins I understand 60% are covered... a $100000 negative margin would trigger $60000 of CAIS payment. 70% Crop Insurance is required to get this negative margin coverage... if no crop insurance they will deem the payment of what would have been the Crop Insurance revenue @70% and net out the premiums.

    Does this help?

        Yes... quite well in fact.

        Dealing with the straw produced in a normal year hear will mean baling it off... and yield is tough to get much over 35 without big lodging problems... and you don't want to go there! Maturity is late... last thing off the field... but desication with glyphosate can help this somewhat.

          Thanks Tom...the farm lost over 30 so basically I can figure 80% of my positive reference margin then correct?

          I haven't been south lately you must be in the fields already? I figure another week and things here in the North Peace are a go.

          Thanks again!
          Take care!
