    MONOPOLY on Diesel PICKUPS for GM and FORD in Canada

    Charlie;

    NOT ALLOWED; BANNED IN CANADA;

    http://www.first4farming.com/F4F/news/index.jhtml?article_id=fwi90294

    "...a product that dates back to 1969..."

    Now in its sixth generation, the Hilux has been Toyota's second-best-selling model worldwide, with 12m units - not bad for a pick-up."

    BUT NEVER AVALIABLE to a Canadian Farmer.

    "It may not provide the refinement of a Discovery, but you can bet your trousers that underneath the bodywork lies engineering that has the durability of a pair of hobnail boots.

    Available in double-cab and single-cab versions from launch, with the Extra-cab (occasional rear seats) following in 2006, the new version is powered by an updated version of the company's familiar D-4D common-rail diesel.

    Power comes in at 101hp and torque at 260Nm.

    Looks a little low compared with the competition?

    Certainly, with Nissan's recently-introduced Navara belting out 172hp, Isuzu's standard Rodeo managing 131hp and Mitsubishi's L200 replacement set to offer 136hp, the Hilux looks (on paper, at least) a bit lacking in the power department."

    We Canadians cannot buy one of these diesel powered trucks. SICK.

    "Toyota's engineers, for their part, point to the unit's improved torque characteristics and fuel consumption."

    Fuel Consumption average city and highway combined;
    8.5L/100KM

    Towing Capacity;
    2250KG

    ONE of the best farm trucks on the face of this planet... possibly the most fuel efficient... and not one Canadian farmer can buy it.

    Simply astounding.

    AND we are serious about Koyoto and green house gasses in Canada?

    Give me a break.

    What a farce.

    And we are supposed to have free trade with competitive benefits of free trade?

    NOT in Canada.

    I bet Ford and GM diesel pickups burn almost double this... if you could find a fuel consumption rating in Canada on them!

    Not avaliable in Alberta CHARLIE.

    How do we change this?
