    Well its been a couple of years
    how is everyones commodittie marketing
    going?how about gold WOW!!!How about steel!copper!zinc!oil!etc!etc!
    Does any farmer here have any idea as to what will happen to the grain sector.So much pessimism.How many suicides in your area?We've have had several in the south east.Horrible. Worst time to be farming in 200 hundred years(inflation adjusted). Someday it will get better.Commodities are it.

    Don't think there are any suicides around here. Didn't think they were up anywhere else either?
    The grain and oil seeds market is incredibly bad right now and the outlook isn't all that great but I don't think too many producers are shooting themselves over it?
    In the BSE crisis we got all this suicide BS but that is what it was, just a bunch of BS?
    Probably some farmers will go under with these terrible prices. Others will batten down the hatches and ride out the storm? Hasn't it always been that way?
    If you talk to people who basically had to quit farming, for whatever reason, they think it is the greatest disaster in the world...at the time it happens! Talk to them five years later and often they see it as the best thing that ever happened to them!
    The fact is commodity agriculture is a low profit industry that is tough to operate in? Most farmers can quit, get into something else and do very well indeed!

      Cowman;

      If any farmer needs to go and get a real job... that pays good money... the opportunity is clearly available in Alberta.

      We are very short of good equipment operators... no doubt about that!

      Look at the news and ads in eastern Canada for skilled labour... they are everywhere!

      ANyone with real motivation knows we do live in a land of plenty... and 99.9% of the rest of the world's population would switch with any one of us in an instant!
