    Minister Strahl Meets With CWB

The Minister says he will not make changes without consultation and does not foresee any changes soon. The real priority is the farm crisis. He seems to have his act together unlike some of the people that go on tirades on this board.

Perhaps the message is the CWB has time to modify its operations to prepare it for survival in a more open market environment - wouldn't be so prescriptive as to suggest I know what this world will be but it won't be what it is today.

In your view, what will this new CWB look like? Would allowing organic farmers the opportunity to market outside the current pooling system using no cost export licences be a bad thing as a step in the evolution that will be occurring over the next few years?

If and when the CWB loses its single desk I can see an open contracting system at or before planting that would commit acres to the CWB whether it be wheat canola or barley.
