    SPE non payment

Did some quick calculations for my spring price endorsement and with today's prices, there will only be a payout for peas. Anyone else check this out?

Unless things go to hell in a hand basket price wise over the next month, there is unlikely to be an SPE payment on anything. There will likely be revenue insurance payouts on some crops (peas, wheat, canola). Using the 70 % of the difference between RI prices and recent prices, the payout would likely be about $20 per tonne for CPS wheat, canola and peas. No 10 % trigger on RI so all crops have potential to pay somewhat. For those of you that suffered crop loss/are making a claim, variable price benefit will likely increase coverage levels on canola and more borderline but likely on CWRS wheat.

In case you have missed it, pea prices are a 50 % blend of feed wheat (Edmonton) and 2 yellow edible peas (Statpub).

A note the real price calculation process start Oct. 1 to Oct. 31. Applies to Alberta only.

I am going to toss the links up on discussion on SPE from this spring. I like to compare what I said to what happened.
