    While i'm thinking about it.
If the cwb hurts farmers, maybe it was created to punish those damn socialist/communist people of Saskatchewan?

Canada has 46 million hectares (115 million acres) of arable land in agriculture, 5% of Canada’s total area of 922 million hectares. Canadian farmland amounts to just over 3% of the 1.4 billion hectares of total arable land inthe world (FAO, 2005).

Canada has the seventh largest arable agricultural land area in the world following the United States (13%), India (12%), China (10%), Russia (9%), Brazil (4%) and Australia(4%).

Canada is a mature economy in respect to the overall contribution of agriculture to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Together the food and agriculture industries1represent about 8% of Canadian GDP.

Canadian agricultural exports and imports each represent about 2% of GDP.

Just over 350,000 Canadians are employed on Canadian farms, about 2% of the Canadian labour force.

The farm population of approximately 727,000 represents 2% of the Canadian population and about 12% of the rural population.

Canadian GDP represents 2% of total world GDP, and Canada’s population 0.5% of the world’s population. Canadians produce just over 1% of the world’s food and consume 0.6% of world food production (FAO, 2005).

The sales of primary agricultural products in Canada peaked at nearly $41 billion in 2002, double the levels of 15 years ago.

Increased sales of Canadian agricultural products are closely associated with the rise in agricultural exports given the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA) in 1990.

        Farm cash receipts:
        Ontario 9B
        Alberta 7.9B
        Sask 6.3B
        Quebec 6.2B

From the latest stats can 2006.

Cotonpicken which boots were you referring to?

The .3% (Sask) walking over the 1.7% (the rest) or the 98% (pi$$ed off tax payers) walking over the 2% (all of us farmers) or the 98% (the not Canada) walking over 2% (we farmers)?

Or just Saskatchewan all of a sudden having mystical powers?

The refrence was made to the value of Sask farmland compared to the value of national farmland. The "boots" will be Sask farmers giving it to the rest of canada once are markets have completed turning around. The shear leverage of Saskatchewans ag sector will cut the legs out of are competition. Please dont get nationalistic on me and say Quebec farmers are our "brothers in arms".As far as globally,I've ALWAYS said we dont matter.

Saskatchewan does have mystical powers which is called wealth.

If the single desk is so great; lets start one for all the above but start with land - yup good ole dirt.

Pool your land to sell it.

Let the government set rules and determine what is best for you when you decide to sell your land.

For all the CWB supporters if you really believe in what you say, how can you argue with having a single desk to sell your land - including to your own family.

              What say you, Agstar?

Vader's land will be different because its organic - but his increased value will be dispersed to everyone in the land pool and he will only see a fraction of the increase.

Someone write Strahl and share the good news.

              The Western Canadian Land Board.

Everyone is equal. Everyone's land is the same. Everyone should be happy.

Guys the first thing you need to do is quit electing these goofy NDP governments! Take a look at your not so stupid neighbors?...Alberta?
Other than oil and gas( which you also have)...we have nothing!
60 years of basically going down the road of goofy socialism...where has that got you? What is your problem?
Quit voting for these losers...they are never going to help you! The only one who is going to help you, is YOU!

Incognito: Your comparison of grain marketing to land values does not compute. Two different concepts altogether. Nice try, but no cigar.

                    land is a commodity
wheat and barley are a commodity

has dick to do with value

There are enough Europeans buying land today - we must help them out.

                    Western Canadian Land Board

single desk selling will increase the value - and strip you of your ownership rights.

Who can argue against the power of single desk selling. Jack Layton may introduce a members bill.

He cowman we don't all vote NDP, in fact some of us have never voted for them but they still keep getting elected. Actually the people of Alberta should award Tommy Douglas with an award for being the instigator of the Alberta boom. With his one statement telling the oil companies that the people of saskatchewan could develop their own resources in their own way, was the start of it. Oil companies aren't stupid if you aren't wanted why stick around!!!!!

the value of the single desk must be brought forward to other entities...

                          land...oil...natural gas...

why should farmers be the only ones to prosper under the single desk...

surely everyone sees the value and market power along with the prosperity they are missing...

Layton/Calvert need to make it their platform

This much of a good thing has to be good for everyone....
