He cowman we don't all vote NDP, in fact some of us have never voted for them but they still keep getting elected. Actually the people of Alberta should award Tommy Douglas with an award for being the instigator of the Alberta boom. With his one statement telling the oil companies that the people of saskatchewan could develop their own resources in their own way, was the start of it. Oil companies aren't stupid if you aren't wanted why stick around!!!!!

        Wilagro:

the value of the single desk must be brought forward to other entities...

        land...oil...natural gas...

why should farmers be the only ones to prosper under the single desk...

surely everyone sees the value and market power along with the prosperity they are missing...

Layton/Calvert need to make it their platform

This much of a good thing has to be good for everyone....

              INcognito,
Farmland is a finite resource they are not making any more of it. You are only going to sell it once if at all in your lifetime.
So called "developed land " - a misnomer- is another story. It can and does trade hands more often. You can run your theory by them.

              Cowman,
I agree we in Sask. have just as much or more resources than Alta and we have gone much slower in developing it.
I do think however, that there are going to be huge costs coming to Alberta taxpayers to clean up after this boom is over...
The environment has taken a back seat while oil companies ****d and pillaged.

In " Business Week" an article says that Klein's legacy will not look too good in a few years. Extremely low royalty rates 15% and only 1% in the tar sands !!!! Actually more money was made off VLT 's than from the tar sands from 2001 -2004.

They compared a time period and comparing Norway to Alberta , Norway took in $200 billion while Alberta only
rec'd $12 billion !!! Ralph Klein was no Peter Lougheed.

Sask and Alberta Have to get on the same page and Raise the Royalties. We can't raise in Sask. while Alberta keeps theirs low,
Pollution is coming with west winds from tar sands to our northern lakes.
Scientist have right now are seeing acid rain affect our abundant lakes .

They claim 70% of the pollution in tar
sands blows into Saskatchewan.. and the project is only a fraction of what it will become in a few years.

The problem is that pollution is a provincial jurisdiction so even though we did not create it we will have to pay to clean it up.

knowing that you appreciate the power of a board. instead of pulling teeth from the the cwb. how about a conservtive soloution, giveing more powers.
the same board powers that brain mulroney gave the chemical companies years ago, to protect thier prices on off patent chemicals.
what you would do is put up a legal wall around canada.preventing any imports . then the board could charge 30$/bushell in canada. and sell any excesss at a world price of 4$
now thats what i call a board and nothing socialist about it.

Why stop at agriculture. Lets have a single desk for everything.. That way every Canadian can vote away their property rights...

                      Sawfly;

I think we tried exactly that strategy in 1930's... didn't we?

What makes you so sure it will work this time?
