If they had 50% of the grain - the rest of the industry would bow down to whatever they needed.

The industry is overbuilt. They need every tonne they can get their hands on.

Everytime i see the word "can't do it"... i shudder.

Can't is a just a word for "don't want to".

Well what are the numbers?Perception and reality are two vastly different things.I percieve farmers want a choice just to keep everything honest but would stay loyal to the board.Kind of like having a red and a green dealership in town.Your still going to buy green but its nice to know reds there keeping them in line.I defintely might be wrong on this.Almost as wrong as tom thinking i'm socialist or commy.


If anyone is going to agribition how about for fun we each ask ten complete STRANGERS about their feelings on the board.These people should be the main owner/ operater of a grain farm in western canada.
The questions should be:
1:do you support the board,no board,or dual marketing.
2:if you support dual marketing would you still go through the board.
3:?????-other possible questions

I would hope everyone would keep the results honest and accurate.

3) Do you wish to have the Freedom of Information Act apply to the CWB?

a) when the CWB wants to hide behind the Act - they say it cannot be changed without a vote - it says so in the Act. The Act is controlled by the government.

b) when the CWB wants to hide behind the Freedom of Information Act - they say they are not a government agency - they are a farmer controlled organization.

"What good will another two bit grain company (CWBII) do for the average farmer and his net income?"

This "two-bit" grain company is likely to do more positive things for a farmer's net income than the present CWB given that it will have to operate in an environment in which there are several buyers competing for farmers' grain.

Adam Smith, myself and many others have put a lot of time into this forum setting out arguments as to how a market with true choice would operate and how a reformed CWB could continue to function. I don't appreciate having those arguments dismissed with comments such as how we don't give a rat's @#% about farmers. This kind of commentary doesn't add anything to the debate.
