    Do WE even CARE

    WD9, EVERYONE.

    THis literally makes me ill.

    I hear everyone say the CWB is important.

    Yet who even cares...

    With less than a quarter of the ballots returned...

    That is right...

    Last we were told over 75% are left to be returned.

    WE AS A SOCIETY DECIDED IT WAS J U S T TO PUT A MAN IN MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISION...

    FOR 23 DAYS;

    FOR DONATING A SACK OF WHEAT TO A 4-H CLUB.

    And we won't even take the time... to put an envelope in a mail box.

    A 10 minute job to decide... and then a few minutes extra to see the letter gets deposited in a mail box.

    If each one of us

    READING this right now;

    WOULD INSIST THAT JUST ONE NEIGHBOUR WE KNOW THAT IS VOTING...

    WOULD RETURN THEIR BALLOT,

    EVEN IF WE HAD TO PICK IT UP OUR SELVES AND TAKE IT TO A MAIL BOX...

    THEN CONVINCE THAT NEIGHBOUR TO DO THE SAME... AND SO ON, AND SO ON...

    HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE TO INSURE ALL BALLOTS WERE RETURNED?

    ONE WEEK.

    AND THE CWB WOULD KNOW WHERE THEY STOOD.

    AND PRIME MINISTER HARPER WOULD KNOW WHAT WE ACTUALLY THOUGHT.

    WHAT WILL WE DO?

    CAN EACH ONE OF US CALL 5 PEOPLE... AND GET THEM TO PROMISE TO CALL 5 PEOPLE... AND ASSURE ALL OUR BALLOTS GET RETURNED?

    doN'T WE OWE IT TO OUR NEXT GENERATION?

    doN'T WE OWE IT TO THOSE FOLKS WHO FOUGHT

    AND

    DIED

    WHO ARE fighting and dieing right now;

    SO WE could LIVE IN A FREE AND democtatic,

    that's right DEMOCRATIC

    NATION?

    WE are so ...

    99.9% of the world's population would give almost anything... to have what we grain growers; have... in the "designated area".

    Lee, Incognito, Chafmeister, WD9...

    What do we do for the folks who...

    because of personal convictions...

    won't vote because they feel it is immoral and wrong to vote on their neighbour's property and civil rights?

      WD9 is right,vote as you like but please vote. You have no one to blame for the result except yourself. Not voting because you don't like the system is just whining.

        Tom,

        I was talking to a neighbour, who was arranging a meeting for Bruce Dalgarno a District 9 candidate and he phoned about 35 farmers to let them know about the meeting.

        The level of apathy and ignorance about what is going on is amazing.

        He spoke to one farmer, he was going to throw his ballot in the garbage because from what he read in the bios, there wasn't any open market guys to vote for. I had to read the bios a few times in order to decipher the code words and the nuances in order to determine what they were saying and where they stood with respect to the monopoly.

        I think alot of people believe that it doesn't matter a damn what they do nothing will change.

        A good ending to the story is that my friend was able to get at least a dozen or more people to vote that otherwise would have not.

          Tom, your question about how do we get people to care is a very good one.

          In my work in market strategy, etc., people care the most about learning more about marketing how-to's and strategies when prices are deep in the tank and there doesn't appear to be any hope for improvement. A crisis motivates people to look for ways to change. At this very moment, prices for most farm crops have improved and there is optimism for better prices. In general, I think optimistic people care less about solving problems because they view the picture as "things are improving".

          Notice how voter turn out in provincial elections is worse when the economy is booming. Lower voter turn out frustrates me because I have family members who don't vote at all in any election.
