BennyHin, It doesn't matter if they pay 70%tax on that bonus, I don't know how a dollar works on your farm but a gross dollar is still a gross dollar that is being paid, and that number is $1000.00. I don't care how much they keep it's still a $1000.00 OF OUR MONEY NOT THEIRS!!!!!

Benny
My city cousins All seem to be able to work for whomever they please. And they also seem to make time for snowmobililing, that is the way I see it,
If you invest your own time and money with your spare time you can do what you please Its like that with all business owners.
Unlike my city cousins I don't get paid to go to meetings or get paid holidays. Every moment that I am not working something is not getting done yet still must be done later.
As far as taxes check what most fortune 500 companies pay, tax avoidance is not against the law tax evasion is. I consider it my duty to use every law the government has written to alow me to use my money the way I see fit.

Cottenpicken, if a large bunch of Grain Companies want to shell out bonuses to their employess so be it. In case you've forgotten the CWB is a non profit organization right?? They're spending my money. Grain Companies are in this buisniess to make money no different than you and I.
You keep all your money in a Bank or a Credit Union somewhere right?? What would you say if your banker phoned you today and said hey man we had to take money out of your account to give bonuses to our employees. Give your head a shake!!

sNAPPY,
The chartered banks DO exactly what you have said... and corporate execs get MUCh more than 1000 Dollar bonuses.
I think the CWB BOD could have been much more innovative... and given innovative incentives that the team players at the CWB didn't have to pay taxes on! Perhaps they did? I know you can GIVE these folks up to $500 tax free... each year... This is what SHOULD have happened!
But what do I know... I am just a stupid farmer who shouldn't decide things like this, perhaps the CWB BOD should have asked some of us what we thought?
That something should have been paid to CWB team members I believe is only fair! If the CWB markets 20mmt this year... I don't mind a bit if a few cents a tonne is given to boost morale... I just am disappointed they gave Ottawa a big chunk back in Income taxes... which could have been Avoided!
I need happy productive people in the CWB to work with.... and so does everyone on Agri-ville!
Come on guys... it is CHRISTMAS!... don't be grinches!
God bless all the CWB staff and BOD... this has not been an easy year for you... and ALL the best for 2007!
SIncerely,
TOM JACKSON!
P. S. I am avaliable for innovative HR stategies... any time you folks at the CWB ask... we need GOOD Ideas! Lets us our strengths and build a more productive CWB through our dedicated team members!
God Bless Canada

What are guys whining about. The bonus was given on instruction from the board of directors. If you have a problem with it, bring it up with them. My question is does the money come from the pool or the PPO contingency fund? Then again does it matter?
Tom, I didn't think you could give "cash" as part of the $500 tax free gift. Anybody else know for sure?

$1000 bonus? Just chickenfeed...when I WORKED in a management position many moons ago, I used to get a bonus between $5000 and $7500 every year.
Besides, does ADM and Cargill TELL you what their employees get for bonuses? Not on your cottonpickin' life.
What is next on the list to blast the CWB about? Too much money spent on paperclips?

In today's era of corporate restructuring, downsizing and cost cutting, not to mention globalization and techno advances, there is not a job or a profession that is not at risk. To give these employees a "stress" bonus can only be described as atrocius!
These bonuses are little more than yet another political game played by the pro monopoly at all costs BOD.
Now Benny and wilagro, you've both given us a piece of your mind on this issue, and there's probably not much left, but think hard and try to tell me, is there anything, anything at all that you would ever criticize the wheat board over?
