    wd9 – you’ve got me thinking.

The CWB debate is clearly as you’ve indicated: “different opinions – different sides that never convince the other”. This debate will continue ad infinitum unless we change the focus.

And you are absolutely right about the “public pull” concept. And politicians are swayed by public pull (polls). Unfortunately, I don’t see this happening in the CWB debate. I live in the City of Winnipeg – where I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve heard people say, “What’s the big deal? Just let the farmers decide what system they want.” In other words, why should I care? (Now if they thought for a minute it was costing them tax money to support farmers BECAUSE of the CWB………) Or – if parliament could see that it was a financial drain, then it could become a case of making the right fiscal decision - like seatbelts.

The tools are in place – freedom of information. (And to members of the Borg - don’t even begin to bore me with ideas that the latest barley study tells the tale; it’s as flawed and misguided as any I’ve seen.)

I thought my wife would have to divorce me before she could marry her girlfriend.

I also understand that grain grown on my farm is my own unless I would like to sell it for other then animal feed.

I also believe that whether the CWB gets more or less on its sales is irrelevent to the question of freedom.

Freedom, freedom, freedom...that's all I ever hear from the anti-CWB gang.

Well, if you want freedom then VOTE for it in a referendum as to who gets the control of grain marketing. Past votes have shown that the majority WANTED the CWB to market a certain part of their production of wheat, durum and barley (not all by any means).

The way that the poor oppressed farmer screams about lack of freedom is quite laughable in a way. We never had it so good in this country. How would you like to live under some of those tinpot new republics in Africa? THEN you could holler for freedom and never be heard.

So Wilagro if I understand you right you now support a Conservative Gov't?? Because I've heard you do nothing but complain on this site about the Conservatives. So going by what you feel about freedoms, and rights you must be more than happy with a Conservative gov't..... I mean it could be worse you could be living in Africa. Give me a break!!

I don't think that was answering the questions either.

              Give it a shot.

It really wouldn't matter how one answered the questions as the anti's have already made up their minds and any or all arguments would be derided or scoffed at. Closed minds are closed minds.

                I have no further comments.

I promise not to berate or belittle anyone who can give an honest, straightforward answer to my questions.

I just want it explained to me in common english.

Great. So if we have it better then someone else then quit asking for change.

You are either for or against the CWB.

I was wondering since it is better to have professionals handle all the sales of wheat in this country isn't it in the best interest of the country to have professionals grow it.

Should wheat growers be licensed? How does the system know if the very best are growing wheat?

Silverback, that way of thinking is a black hole of despair with no hope of resolve. For answers, just read the last 800 posts on the CWB.

It's all there in headbanging and nauseating detail; like the election rules, plebiscite question, premiums...

Sorry Wilagro, but I'm not closed minded.

We're talking about the CWB, not frickin Africa!!
