40% #1 14.5 protein delivered as of this morning {S.W Sask}, wish my specialty crops would get picked up-it seems my only cash crops are durum, hrsw and peas.
The rest (other pulses and mustards) have had dreadful movement last couple of years, maybe I should blame the wheat board.

40% of our CWRS 1&2 Delivered out here in east central Alberta.

Perhaps, Mustardman, some competition would allow growers to sell 100% of their Durum and CWRS each year... taking pressure off your mustard/special crop production acres.

Why not grow some juncea that has Canola quality...?
I know we aren't supposed to switch back and forth...

If the CWB was marketing mustard... with a "single desk" as it has in wheat... do you really honestly think this crop would be delivered sooner and at higher prices?
We need more hot dog sales...!
And not the ones in the CWB Marketing/Sales dept. either!

Tom yes if specialty crops were under a single desk prices would be higher; economics 101 - single seller versus multiple sellers especially for grains where we dominate the market such as green lentils, canary, yellow mustard. Actually a few neighbours have been selling lentils "as a group" to negotiate a better price based on volume. Movement couldn't be any worse last year they came to get my mustard same day that I was starting to harvest the Next years mustard crop.Granted storage fees were paid to me but at very low rates.

Mustardman, you couldn't be more wrong. Explain to me then why Canola has done so well off single desk selling??

            Mustardman,

The CWB and Hard White wheat also had the exact same problem for us.

When we grow small acreage crops... the can be easily oversupplied... we all know what will happen. Bad prices and over supply means slow movement... no matter what it is... or which system.

Actually it is really too bad the CWB messed up Hard white wheat this year. If more had been grown... as the industry wanted and begged the CWB to fulfill on it's promise... we would be miles ahead. Less CWRS would have been supportive... and with the Ausies out to a large extent another half a million acres of hard white wheat would have been a really smart move.

But the elephant ....ed and we can all smell the bad decision from a mile away.

Why are you building this CWB socialist institution, Mustardman?

Is it because it easier than working... (an old socialist joke!)!

Can socialism be built in the Desert Mustardman?

It is possible but not a good Idea...

If you do they will run out of sand there too!

Mustardman... did you know why Stalin was the best leader in the world?

Because he was responsible for 21.5 million people's deaths!

            Mustardman,
What is the difference between Capitalism and Communism?

Capitalism is the exploitation of men by men... and Communism is the exact opposite!

The opponents of Capitalism say, the comfort of the Rich: depends upon the abundance of the Poor... and

I would say the comfort of the poor depends upon the abundance of the rich... in communism... which is, of course, why communism fails over time.

A man recently returning from the west goes into an upscale resturaunt in Poland and orders supper.
He orders Borsh, a steak, ice cream, a coffee, and a copy of PRAVDA.
The waiter takes the order but says he can't get a copy of the Pravda any more.

The man eats his soup, as he finishes it, and the waiter asks if he wants his steak now. He says yes... but he really wants a copy of the Pravda as well. The waiter tells him they don't publish it any more... the communist people that were there are no longer in power...so he can't have a copy of it, and gives him the steak!

The man likes the steak, finishes it, and then calls the waiter over and asks for his desert, a coffee refill, and a copy of the Pravda. The Waiter is very frustrated about the Pravda paper and goes into great detail about how the politics have changed... and why there was no more publication of the Pravda paper... and then gives the man another coffee and his ice cream.

As the man finishes his meal... the waiter comes over and asked how he enjoyed his meal. THe man is really enthusiastic... thanks the waiter for the great meal & service... but that he is still waiting for his Pravda Paper!

THe waiter is really frustrated by now. He asks Why do you keep on asking about this paper, and all the Communist people who ran it, and why don't you understand things have changed and there is no Pravda any more?...!

THe man gives the waiter a $50US tip... and says... I just couldn't resist having you tell me about the demise of the Communists and the end of Pravda... over and over again! Each time you told me it sounded better and better... so I just couldn't resist hearing it again and again!

Is this what you want to be said about the CWB in ten years Mustardman?

Hey T4 I'm not sure you know your history very well. The 21.5 million russians died defending their country against the fascist nazis - more died than all the other allied countries put together- its a good thing they stopped hitler on the eastern front or he would have been a whole lot stronger fighting us on the western front, so give them thanks Tom you should be grateful, you could have had a lot more of your relatives over there.

As far as the CWB is concerned, if FARMERS decide democractically that the CWB is no longer needed so be it.
But I will not stand by while some 2-bit fascist gov't tears it apart limb by limb

You are a real piece of work.

Admiration of the communists and painting the conservatives as facist nazis in the same post.

                What a joke.

Silverback the only 'piece of work ' I see on this web site are whiners and complainers who distort history for their own cause such as T4. Some of us had relatives fighting the nazi's on the western front- the communists who were defending their homeland and spreading the nazi's thin on the eastern front were the turning point in the war. Hitler could not win a war fighting on two fronts. Now maybe you and Tom have been watching too many hollywood movies-- you know where the U.S won the war singlehandedly.
As far as our fed. gov't, they will get my respect when they get gov't out of changing the cwb and let us do it thru our elected directors. Until that time, if Mr. Anderson stops in my town I will personally shave off his little mustache..
                  God bless you Silverback
                  Glod bless you T4CWB
                  God bless Canada.

                    mustardman,

In 1947, you would have been in the special government-seats,front row, cheering-on the gov't to take away the farmers' rights to market their own grain, to duly create a state-marketing CWB, limb by limb,.... so it is not really surprising to listen to you rant and have a tantrum when a 2007 gov't tears it apart limb by limb.

That scenario is a flashback to exactly why Tom's and a lot of families came to Canada. For a better life. Better.

You would love farming in Cuba. State run. State owned. Government seats in the front row. Important decisions about your farm made by important people. (Not you.)

Perhaps Stephane Dion can help you get dual citizenship.

How the topic of delivering #1 CWRS gets sidetracked to Stalin's Purges is beyond me but since where here,

I am currently delivering #1 CWRS that will take me to 60% delivered on the A series. In fact I didn't even know we had a new call on wheat. The agent said he wanted my POOR WHEAT, so I loaded up some crappy fusarium infected cps which I had contracted to them for $4.25 bu and hauled it up. When I got there he told me that was not what he wanted he wanted my bleached cwrs to blend with all the nice red stuff he was bringing in (they are giving me a #1 for it). I said #1 no one told me we had a new call on wheat and #2 I don't consider my slightly bleached cwrs to be POOR WHEAT. Anyway, were now hauling cwrs.

Which obviously and by all common logic brings up Stalin's purges. Don't we all see the connection here?

Anywho, I encourage Mustardman to Google "Stalin's Purges"

The Great Purge (Russian: Áîëüøàÿ ÷èñòêà, transliterated Bolshaya chistka) is the name given to campaigns of political repression and persecution in the Soviet Union orchestrated by Joseph Stalin during the late 1930s. It involved the purge of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the persecution of unaffiliated persons, both occurring within a period characterized by omnipresent police surveillance, widespread suspicion of "saboteurs", imprisonment, and killings.

Millions of people died in the purges. Several hundreds of thousands were executed by shooting and millions were forcibly resettled. Many were imprisoned and tortured or sent to labor camps, both functioning as part of the GULAG system. Many died at the labor camps due to starvation, disease, exposure and overwork. The Great Purge was started under the NKVD chief Genrikh Yagoda, but the height of the campaigns occurred while the NKVD was headed by Nikolai Yezhov, from September 1936 to August 1938; this period is sometimes referred to as the Yezhovshchina ("Yezhov era"). However the campaigns were carried out according to the general line, and often by direct orders, of the Party Politburo headed by Stalin.

Adam Smith - yes it is amazing how this website - at least some who use it - always get sidetracked into comparing CWB with communism - I see you are a student of history and are therefore quite aware of the diferrences.

Parsley yes they say the weather in Cuba is beautiful at this time of year , I'll send you a postcard.

Cuba is actually a success story. They have overcome massive obstacles and the people LOVE their leader.
Remember pinochet of chile,he was the exact opposite of castro and guess who put him in power.
Would cubans be more happy if they were like their neighbour hati.
Somebody needs to give their head a shake when they compare communist stalin to socialist tommy douglas. That is the kind of logic that makes me question if a person is boarder line retarded.
Socialists dont have all the answers but they are far from evil.
