Agri-ville.com Website suggestions?

Hi - with the recent acquisition of the Agri-ville.com website, we'll be continuing to support and build the site and user community - and are always interested in your feedback/suggestions on the site.

What would you like to see on the site? What areas do you find useful, not useful? What features would you like to see in the community/discussion area?

Thanks,
Darren

I will get the ball rolling with a couple of issues I have seen raised over time.

1) Ability to sort threads based on last posting versus order when the first post was done.

2) Ability to put hot links in.

3) Separating commodity marketing into a market outlook/strategy section and a policy one. Separate out those who simply want to talk about policy issues.

Someone already made this suggestion but it's valid: Allow posters to be able to see and read their entire post to edit it for typos, etc., before finally posting it.

Create a meeting room devoted to the cwb only. Although at times it is interesting byt it seems to dominate every discussion in the commodity marketing forum. It would be nice to talk about market developments without tom turning it into a anti-cwb thread, eventhough i agree with him most of the time.

I also support the above suggestions. Pleeease remove CWB discussions out from commodity marketing, probably under "policy" as mentioned above.

I like some fetures from ranchers.net like the rating of posters as well as a general/specific location of where a person is writing from.
I really enjoy the moderator comments from charlie/ lee and sure hope you keep them on.

Ability to edit the post by the author. Make the little blue Edit? in thebottom right corner work.

Search engine.

Longer history of postings - Archive.

As above, keep the page lean and mean as many farmers use dialup.

Flag read/unread for posts. Tough to remeber was it 39 or 40 posts when I last looked.

List who initiated the post, who posted the last message along with the post title.

Add some more emoticons.

Courier is dead, use a more dense font.

Allow hotlinks.

Allow 80 X 80 pixel avatars.

When using the response textbox, have the original thread in a text box below for cut/paste or reference. Some people post 13 questions and is tough to remember them all.

Make the message box a little - er - lot bigger, there is lots of screen there.

Allow PM'ing.

Allow reply with quote from previous messages as sometimes there is 5 conversations going on.

Use a CSS page and post the 10 most recent posts and allow direct URL access to that discussion.

Utilize multi pages as some topics get quite lengthy when people cut and paste half a newspaper in.

Show who is online - members and visitors.

Display total number of members somewhere.

That should be enough for now.

Oh yeah, get rid of that single choice, "Return to discussion" page after posting a message. It is quite annoying.

Create an mostly unmoderated dungeon where posts of any kind not up to the standards of AV could be posted. An enter at your own risk forum. Some people may just want to vent.
