I'll post another good source of US prices. You can help us understand the differences between the dpc and fpc/pro prices.

DNS 14% is the same as our HRWS 13.5%. Why then using last weeks prices are PNW prices $15 higher then our PRO. That would be after a 35 cent drop in the market. WE do not need to bring it back to North Dakota, PNW and Vancouver is the same thing. I do not understand, the CWB can not even get you higher prices then the feed market. Why keep defending them especially this year. Just admit they are doing a horrible job.

I think you just made my point.

DNS 236 at exchange rate of 1.155 should be 1.175 which means last weeks bid was $241.
Last weeks prices are 70 cents off the high and even with some gains in the exchange since the high you can see where the PRO should be.
Why is the DPC always higher then the PRO and by a long shot. DPC are inland prices and PRO's are based Vancouver. CWB grain since June has benn the cheapest wheat in the world.

          Walk,

I have a hard time arguing with your logic... if it waddles, squalks, flies, eats, and ____s like a duck... it is a duck.

          Joke time!

The new Soviet General stationed in the Ukraine... in the communist erra, has a problem.

Commander: I have a problem, I have discovered mice in my office.

Secretary: Sir, I think I have a practical solution I learnt from our previous Commander... it was very effective at getting rid of problem pests!

          Commander: What was this solution?

Secretary: I will simply declare this office a "Collective Farm".

          Commander: Why will this help?

Secretary: Half of them will starve to death... and the other half will run away!

Near the end of the Soviet Union... they had a big problem. With all the summits going on, people in the Soviet Union could see how much more prosperous the west was than they were. Some parents had to line up in the queue, for 12 hours to get bread... and the folks in East Germany watched West German tele... what were they to do?

Two freinds were talking... one says to the other... I hear it is going to snow tomorrow!

The other says... well I am not going to queue for that!

Comrad 1: How do you know Moscow was your freind?

          Comrad 2: They send Tanks!

One of the most amazing things about the Soviet Union was this: Considering all the bad social, economic, spiritial, and practical problems this system had...

It was totally astounding how long the Soviet Union lasted!

            Walk,

I think you will find the DPC is the same Port pricing point base as the other PPO's and PRO.

The DPC "discovery" points are claimed to be an average collected by the CWB across the northern US interior.

Kind of strange why one price would apply... when there is a spread of normally at least $.50/bu in the price point collection area. Further... your point on PNW pricing vs. Vancouver/Rupert port position is correct. The US has a $15/t disadvantage to CDN freight to get to port position.

THe CWB keeps the CDN benefit... and gives the lower interior US price.

            Joke Time!

Gorbachov was at a Summit and tells this joke!

A Citizen is in the queue and getting very frustrated waiting for bread. There was another 10 hours to wait, he threw his hands in the air and said he was going to go and kill Gorbachov as he left.

Two hours later he returns rather sheepishly. A neighbour citizen said: Well, did you kill him?

He said: NO THE QUEUE was much longer over there!

Walk: The DNS price I quoted was a commercial bid price instore PNW. If you sold a car lot on that day, what would the spread ("basis") between this price and your farm gate price have been? factor in US elevator tarriffs, deductions, rail freight, port fobbing, etc.

What does it matter. We are comparing PRO and PNW. Both are prices in store west coast. In fact Shelby Montana where, Freight is the highest, ( only one rail company or monopoly ) has lower total deductions then we do. They are $1.03/bushel (1.21 cdn) TOTAL deduction. Lethbridge deductions are $1.32. To add on top of this their grading is a lot easier. I have brought #3 HRSW ( one elevator graded it feed ) down there and they graded it #1 northern.
