    Hot Weather in 07?

Scientists in Britain predict 2007 will be world's hottest year on record

LONDON - Deepening drought in Australia. Stronger typhoons in Asia. Floods in Latin America. British climate scientists predict that a resurgent El Nino warming event combined with ever-higher levels of greenhouse gases could touch off fresh ecological disasters - and make 2007 the world's hottest year on record.

Are these the same scientists who predicted a hurricane season in the US of biblical proportions?

      Silverback...

Funny... I had thought the same thing about this years huricane season in the US... as I posted this piece! No it is a different group... it was the US's own NOAC I believe that was way off track.

THis is the first forcast on the Ausie drought continuing that I have seen!

I say, "bring it on". We had hot summers when I was a kid and had great crops.

Don't take much stock in what the "doomsday" squawkers predict. Momma nature has a way of evening things out. Give her a bit of time.

Mankind is not going to vanish from climate change as much as from overpopulation and mismanagement of current land and sea resouces.

wilagro: For once I find myself agreeing with you!
I doubt man made green house gasses have much to do with global warming, but I do think something weird is happening with the weather right now. I support global warming!...especially when it is minus thirty with a SE wind blowing!
Now I'm not too keen on drought, so hope that isn't included!
I think though that being "green" isn't a bad thing? Occasionally I have to go to downtown Calgary on business. After about half an hour I've just about had it! Eyes start to run, hard to breathe all that "soup" they call air! Sure am glad to get out of there!

It better be a hot DRY spring or I won't be able to seed a dang thing. I spoke of this in the Acreage shifts discussion.

cwbcosts me$$$: Where about are you at? Will crop insurance give you a decent payout if you can't seed?
In central Alberta we went into winter with excellent soil moisture after a fairly wet late summer and fall. Got an excellent window in September to get the crop off in really good shape.
We are limited in what we can grow here. Mostly barley and canola with some wheat...usually CPS. A few pea crops.

I'm in Northeast Sask. This area is a big time canola, barley, oat, pea, flax, canary, winter wheat, the spring wheats, and good cattle/sheep country. Very high production potential/exc. soil, but shortish growing season. Never, ever, drought. Esp. not this year! Red river valley type of moisture, less the desireable heat to push crops along.
